MYOB e-Invoicing in the Germany: Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Advintek's e-Invoice Connector for MYOB?
Advintek’s connector for MYOB links your MYOB accounting data to a Germany-ready e-invoicing workflow. It converts MYOB invoices into compliant structured XML, sends them without manual uploads, shows live status updates including validation results and rejections, and archives every invoice, so MYOB users stay compliant without changing how they work.
2. Does MYOB create German e-invoices (XRechnung, ZUGFeRD) by itself?
A standard MYOB invoice, whether printed or emailed as a PDF, is not a structured e-invoice under German rules. Germany requires an EN 16931-compliant file with machine-readable data. Advintek’s connector adds that capability on top of your existing MYOB setup, so you do not have to replace your accounting software.
3. Is e-invoicing mandatory in Germany for MYOB users?
Yes, for domestic B2B transactions between businesses established in Germany. Receiving structured e-invoices has been mandatory since 1 January 2025. Issuing becomes mandatory from 1 January 2027 for businesses with prior-year turnover above €800,000 and from 1 January 2028 for all other businesses, whichever accounting software they use.
4. When must a German business using MYOB start issuing e-invoices?
Check your prior-year turnover. If it exceeded €800,000, the issuing obligation starts on 1 January 2027. If it was €800,000 or less, it starts on 1 January 2028, and other invoice formats can still be used during 2027. Moving earlier gives you time to test and train staff on rejection handling.
5. We use MYOB for a German subsidiary or branch. Does the mandate apply?
If the entity is established in Germany and issues invoices to other German businesses, the domestic B2B mandate applies to it. MYOB is widely used in Australia and New Zealand, so group structures with a German entity are common. Advintek can connect the MYOB company file or online account for the German entity and keep the group’s workflow unchanged.
6. Do we already need to receive e-invoices?
Yes. Since 1 January 2025 every business in Germany must be able to receive structured e-invoices (XRechnung or ZUGFeRD) for domestic B2B transactions. You need a channel for incoming files and a way to process them for bookkeeping and input VAT. Ask Advintek about receiving as part of your consultation.
7. Which formats does the MYOB connector produce?
The connector converts MYOB invoices into BZSt-compliant XML and supports multiple invoice formats. In Germany the accepted B2B formats are EN 16931-compliant: XRechnung, and ZUGFeRD from version 2.0.1 (excluding the MINIMUM and BASIC-WL profiles). Advintek confirms which format and profile fit each of your customer groups.
8. What is the difference between XRechnung and ZUGFeRD for MYOB invoices?
XRechnung is a pure XML invoice with no visual layout, while ZUGFeRD is a hybrid: a readable PDF with the XML embedded. Both satisfy the German rules when they follow EN 16931. XRechnung suits public-sector customers and automated recipients, and ZUGFeRD helps when your customers still want a visual copy.
9. Do MYOB users need to log in to a government portal to submit invoices?
No. Advintek’s workflow is designed so you create, send and cancel e-invoices from one platform, with no need to log in to a separate portal. Formatting, validation and transmission run automatically in the background, and the results appear as live status updates in your workflow.
10. Can I keep working in the MYOB interface I know?
Yes. The solution works with your current MYOB environment, so there is no system change and no staff retraining. Users continue to raise invoices in MYOB. Changes made in the connector or through Advintek’s Invoice Factory sync automatically, so both systems stay aligned.
11. How does the MYOB connector process an invoice?
An invoice created in MYOB is picked up by the connector, converted to compliant XML and validated. It is then submitted automatically, the status is fetched and displayed, and the invoice with its metadata is stored in the Invoice Factory archive. If something fails, you see the reason, fix the data and resubmit.
12. Can I see the live status of each MYOB e-invoice?
Yes. The dashboard shows real-time status updates, including validation outcomes, approvals and rejections. This reduces the need to chase customers or check external systems, and it gives finance teams one view of which invoices are accepted, pending or need action.
13. What if an invoice is rejected?
The connector surfaces the rejection and its reason. Typical causes are missing mandatory fields (such as buyer reference, tax IDs or payment terms) or inconsistent totals. Correct the source data in MYOB, resubmit, and the new status is tracked automatically. Fixing the cause at source prevents the same error repeating on later invoices.
14. Can I cancel an e-invoice sent from MYOB?
Yes. Advintek’s service supports cancellations within 72 hours directly from the platform. After that window, the standard German approach is to issue a credit note and a corrected invoice. Check your specific workflow with the Advintek team so your finance staff know which route applies.
15. Does the connector support credit notes and corrections?
Yes. Credit notes and corrections are part of the automated lifecycle alongside invoices. Keeping the original, the credit note and the corrected invoice linked makes it easier to reconcile accounts and pass tax audits. Test your usual correction scenarios in the demo.
16. Are recurring invoices supported?
Yes. The MYOB solution fully supports recurring invoices and multiple formats. Recurring invoices created in MYOB pass through the same conversion, validation, submission and archiving flow, so subscriptions and retainers stay compliant without manual steps each period.
17. Can we submit invoices in bulk?
Bulk or batch processing suits businesses with high invoice volumes, such as month-end billing runs. Because the process is automated end to end, large batches follow the same flow as single invoices. Confirm your expected volumes and any batch limits with Advintek when you request a quotation.
18. How are MYOB e-invoices archived in Germany?
Advintek’s Invoice Factory stores all invoices and metadata in line with the retention rules. The MYOB page describes 10-year recordkeeping, which covers the generally applicable 8-year retention period for invoices and the 10-year period for books and annual statements, so you are audit-ready for either.
19. How long must German businesses keep invoices?
Under the Fourth Bureaucracy Relief Act, invoices and other accounting vouchers generally have to be kept for eight years from 2025, down from ten. Commercial books and annual financial statements still require ten years. Special cases may require longer, so confirm with your tax advisor.
20. What does GoBD mean for my archived MYOB invoices?
GoBD is the German framework for keeping digital accounting records. It requires completeness, traceability and immutability. For e-invoices, the structured XML is the original and must be stored unchanged. Advintek’s archive is built for audit-readiness, and you should reference the flow from MYOB to the archive in your process documentation.
21. Does the connector work with DATEV or my accountant's software?
Advintek publishes guidance on accounting and ERP integrations, including DATEV. Your accountant normally needs the invoice data for bookkeeping and the VAT return. Tell Advintek which tools your Steuerberater uses, and the team can advise how to share invoices and statuses.
22. Is cross-border invoicing covered?
Germany’s B2B mandate covers domestic transactions. Invoices to customers in other countries follow local or EU rules, which currently differ. Because Advintek runs e-invoicing connectors in many countries, MYOB users with international customers can keep one process and add each jurisdiction’s formats as needed.
23. What about invoices to German public authorities?
Public-sector recipients in Germany expect XRechnung and use a Leitweg-ID to route invoices. If you invoice authorities from MYOB, tell Advintek during setup so the Leitweg-ID and format are mapped correctly. For private B2B customers a Leitweg-ID is normally not needed.
24. Are very small invoices or small businesses exempt?
Invoices up to €250 (small-amount invoices) and some tickets are exempt from the e-invoicing requirement, and Kleinunternehmer are exempt from the duty to issue e-invoices, though they must still be able to receive them. Most MYOB users find one process for all invoices is simpler than splitting by amount.
25. How secure is the platform?
Advintek lists 24/7 support, weekly updates, 99.9% uptime and a secure, compliant architecture. Invoices and metadata are stored in a controlled archive. Review the privacy policy and ask for data processing terms if you need them for your own compliance file.
26. How much does the MYOB connector cost?
Advintek advertises simple, transparent pricing for SMEs, beginning with an entry-level plan. The total depends on invoice volumes, number of companies and support needs. Request a free quotation for the current price in euros and a clear list of what is included.
27. Can I try it before committing?
Advintek offers a free demo, a free consultation and a free quotation. In the demo you can watch an MYOB invoice being converted, submitted, tracked and archived. Use the consultation to test your trickiest invoice types before you decide.
28. How long does implementation take?
There is no system change, because the connector integrates with your existing MYOB environment. Timing depends on the number of entities, invoice types and customers. Ask for a go-live schedule at the start, especially if your turnover exceeded €800,000 and you must issue e-invoices from 1 January 2027.
29. What support is available after go-live?
Advintek provides 24/7 support and weekly updates. Support covers rejected invoices, status questions, format updates and changes to German requirements. As formats such as XRechnung and ZUGFeRD are updated, the connector is maintained so you do not need to track technical changes yourself.
30. What are the risks of not being compliant in time?
Non-compliant invoices may be rejected by customers who process e-invoices automatically, payments can be delayed, and your customers may face issues with input VAT deduction. Authorities have also set rules for how non-compliant invoices are treated. Ask your tax advisor about your exposure; an automated workflow removes most of the risk.
31. How is this different from exporting a PDF or XML manually?
Manual exports depend on staff remembering the right format, mandatory fields and submission steps for every invoice. Advintek automates formatting, validation, transmission, status tracking and archiving, which reduces error risk and saves time. It also keeps a complete, audit-ready history, which manual routines usually lack.
32. How does MYOB compare with QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks and Zoho Books for e-invoicing in Germany?
Advintek supports all five platforms with similar capabilities (conversion, submission, tracking, cancellation, archiving), so e-invoicing readiness should not be the deciding factor. Choose on accounting features, reporting, payroll and team needs. Advintek also publishes guides such as MYOB vs QuickBooks for Germany.
33. Is Advintek a trusted provider?
Advintek describes itself as a leading e-invoicing partner trusted by thousands of businesses in Germany, from SMEs to large enterprises, and operates in many countries. Ask for customer highlights and references during the demo, and check the Customer Highlights section of the site.
34. What if I use other systems besides MYOB?
Advintek also supports many ERP, accounting, e-commerce and POS platforms, and it extends integration to systems outside its standard connectors. If you run MYOB for finance and another tool for billing or sales, explain the setup in your consultation so one compliant process can cover both.
35. How do I get started?
Request a demo on the Advintek Germany site, list your invoice types, customer groups and volumes, and agree on the formats. Then connect MYOB, run test invoices and go live. Businesses with prior-year turnover above €800,000 should plan to be live before 1 January 2027.
